LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football's
Rahsul Faison has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Sept. 15. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Faison, a senior running back from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, rushed for 115 yards on 19 attempts in USU's 38-21 loss to Utah in the Battle of the Brothers. It was Faison's third-career game with over 100 yards rushing and his first this season.
On the season, Faison has led the Aggies with 247 yards rushing on 40 carries, averaging 6.2 yards per rush. Faison ripped off his long run of the season against Utah, a 27-yarder that was initially ruled a touchdown before being called down at the 1-yard line on replay.
Utah State heads eastward for a non-conference game at Temple on Saturday, Sept. 21, at noon (MT). The Aggies will then open Mountain West play on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Boise State.

Nominees from other sports for USU Student-Athlete of the Week included:
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Junior LJ Floyd (Alpine, Utah) took fifth with a time of 19:55.51 to help Utah State to a fourth place finish last weekend at the BYU Autumn Classic.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Junior Elizabeth Phillips (Garland, Utah) was the top-finisher for the Aggie women at the BYU Autumn Classic last weekend, placing 14th with a time of 15:55.70 to help Utah State finish third as a team.
GOLF – Senior Julio Arronte (Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico) tied for 20th at 1-under 212 (69-71-72) and helped Utah State to a 14th place finish in the 18-team SIU Edwardsville-hosted Dolenc Invitational last week. For Arronte, it was his fifth career under par finish and his seventh-career top 20 placing. He shot a 2-under 69 during his first 18 holes and followed that up with an even par 71, before carding a 1-over 72 during his final round. For Arronte, his opening round 69 is his eighth-career round in the 60s and 16th-career round under par.
SOCCER – Sophomore midfielder Summer Diamond (Uintah, Utah) helped No. 9 Utah State remain undefeated with a 4-2 road win at Weber State this past weekend. Against the Wildcats, Diamond totaled four points on a goal and two assists. She was responsible for the go-ahead game-winner in the 63rd minute, while also recording assists in each half. It was her fourth goal of the season, and her second and third assists of the year. Diamond also led the team with three shots in the contest, all of which were on goal, while starting the match and playing 63 minutes.
WOMEN'S TENNIS – Freshman Natalie Paterova (Kladno, Czech Republic) posted a 3-1 singles record at the Air Force-hosted Bedford Cup last weekend as she advanced to the championship match in the Flight Echo Playoff One Bracket.
VOLLEYBALL – Freshman setter Kaylie Kofe (Idaho Falls, Idaho) helped Utah State to a 1-2 record at the USC Invitational last weekend with a 3-2 win against Ohio and 3-0 losses to No. USC and LMU. Kofe posted a team-high 27 assists against the Bobcats, which are the second-most by an Aggie this season and is 10th among all MW players for a single match this season. She also added five digs and two aces in the win. For the week, Kofe posted 38 assists and 15 digs, while adding three service aces and one kill.
