LOGAN, Utah – After helping lead the Utah State soccer team to a 2-0 week with road wins over in-state foes Utah and No. 16 BYU, senior defender
Addy Weichers was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.
Weichers, a native of Highland, Utah, helped limit a pair of Big 12 opponents last week to just a single goal while anchoring the defensive back line. She started both contests and played all 180 possible minutes on the week. Weichers and the Aggie defense allowed just five total shots on goal during the week, three to Utah and two to BYU. On the season, Utah State has allowed just a single goal through five games, while opponents are averaging just 3.2 shots on frame per contest.
This is the first MW weekly honor of Weichers' career.
Weichers and the Aggies (5-0) travel to Orem, Utah, this week to take on Utah Valley (2-2-1) on Thursday, Sept., at 7 p.m. Utah State returns home this weekend to host Pacific (1-4) on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.
