LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football graduate senior
Broc Lane has been named a semifinalist for the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy it was announced on Wednesday.
Lane was one of a record 203 players named as a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, with players from all NCAA divisions and the NAIA being selected. Lane graduated from Utah State in May 2024 with a degree in exercise science and is currently pursuing an MBA.
Celebrating its 35th year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Candidates for the award must be a senior who will complete his final year of eligibility in the 2024 season or graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree and participating in the 2024 season. Candidates must also have a GPA of at least 3.2 and have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. A total of 12-14 finalists will be announced on Oct. 23 with the winner being announced on Dec. 10.
Lane, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end from Chandler, Arizona (Perry HS), has started every game for the Aggies this season and has hauled in 10 receptions for 101 yards, ranking third on the team in receptions and fourth in yardage. Lane scored his lone touchdown so far this season on a 20-yard catch against Utah. Prior to this season, Lane earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors in 2023 as he started 10 of the 11 games he played in and caught 21 receptions for 208 yards and one touchdown. For his career, Lane has played in 30 games with 14 starts and has 39 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns.
Fall Schedule
Utah State returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m. (MT), when they travel to take on Boise State.
