LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis opened the 2025 dual match season with a 7-0 sweep of Weber State on Sunday afternoon at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.

"We had four freshmen in the starting lineup today and Keanu hadn't played a dual match season for three years, so a very young team. A very different team from what we had last year. So it was good to see them come out with as good of a doubles performance as I've ever seen for the first match of the season and then to follow it up and do well in singles. I was pretty pleased today."
 
Doubles
Utah State came out strong in doubles, dominating each of the three matches to claim the early point. At the top spot, senior David Martirosian and freshman Eliot Nobel combined for a 6-2 win. The duos of sophomore Mohammad Alkotop and freshman Dmitri Goubin at the No. 2 position plus senior Sergi Micó Fenollar and sophomore Keanu Rigby at the No. 3 position each posted 6-1 wins for the Aggies.
 
Singles
USU continued to maintain the momentum in singles play as Micó Fenollar, Martirosian and Alkotop posted straight-set wins at the first three positions to clinch the Aggie victory. Playing the rest of the matches out, freshmen Roman Venger and Eemil Pasanen post come-from-behind victories at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, while Goubin completed the Aggie sweep with a win in straight sets at the No. 6s.
