BEAVERTON, Oregon – Utah State men's tennis improved to 2-1 on its spring season following a 6-1 road win at Portland State on Sunday.
 
Doubles
Utah State took the early lead by clinching the doubles point with victories at the first and third positions. Senior David Martirosian and freshman Eliot Nobel recorded a 6-3 win at the first position and freshmen Roman Venger and Eemil Pasanen notched a 6-3 win at the third position. Sophomore Keanu Rigby and freshman Dmitri Goubin had their match at the second position left unfinished as the duo was trailing 4-3.
 
Singles
Portland State tied the match as it won the first singles point of the day at the No. 6 spot against Rigby in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).
 
Utah State then won the remaining five matches at Pasanen was victorious in straight sets at the No. 5 spot (6-3, 6-2), Venger won in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (6-2, 6-1), Goubin won in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-4, 6-4), senior Sergi Micó Fenollar won in straight sets at the No. 1 spot (7-6 (7-3), 6-0) and Martirosian won in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (7-5, 6-3).

Utah State returns to the court on Friday, Feb. 7, as it plays at Arizona at noon (MT).
