Game Recap: Women's Basketball |
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Utah State women's basketball fell to Air Force, 78-66, on Wednesday night at Clune Arena.

The Falcons made the first move of the contest, opening up a 12-2 lead to begin the game. The Aggies answered right back, however, with a 12-2 run of their own. Senior guard Cheyenne Stubbs and freshman guard Elise Livingston each hit 3-pointers to power the run for USU before junior guard Jamisyn Heaton worked her way in the post for a layup to tie the game at 14 after the first quarter.

After Air Force again jumped out to a lead early in the second quarter, Utah State again responded, this time piecing together a 14-2 run, including a personal 5-0 run from junior guard Isabella Tañedo, to take their biggest lead of the game at 28-21. The Falcons chiseled at the lead over the final minutes of half, trimming USU's lead to 30-31 entering halftime. Utah State shot 41.4 percent (12-of-29) from the field in the first half, including a 53.8 percent (7-of-13) showing in the second quarter.

AF's momentum from the end of the second quarter continued in the third, however, as the Falcons took control of the game with a 22-0 which spanned into the fourth quarter. The Aggies battled back within 12 points in the final frame but could not reel Air Force in before the final horn.

Stubbs led the Aggies with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a 4-of-8 mark from 3-point range, plus a team-high three assists. Heaton and junior guard Mia Tarver each added 10 points while Heaton led the team with eight rebounds and Tarver posted a team- and career-high five assists. Heaton also added four assists. Livingston chipped in with eight posts plus a career-high seven boards and four assists.
