HONOLULU, Hawaii — Graduate RB
Miles Davis recorded 114 all-purpose yards and scored one touchdown in Utah State's 44-26 Mountain West loss to Hawai'i at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.
Utah State scored a touchdown on its opening possession of the third quarter following an unsuccessful on-side kick by the Rainbow Warriors to take a 26-24 lead. Hawai'i then scored the final 20 points of the game.
Graduate QB Bryson Barnes was 14-of-26 passing for 175 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Fellow graduate QB Jacob Conover was 4-of-10 passing for 64 yards and sophomore QB Anthony Garcia was 1-of-1 passing as he completed a 30-yard pass for a touchdown. Barnes added 64 yards on the ground on 12 carries as he posted 239 yards of total offense.
Senior WR Brady Boyd led the Aggies with five catches for 68 yards. Graduate TE Broc Lane finished with four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown, while junior WR Braden Pegan posted a team-high 84 yards on three catches. Junior RB Javen Jacobs recorded two catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. Senior WR Kahanu Davis and freshman RB Noah White each added one catch for 20 and three yards, respectively.
Utah State garnered 435 yards of total offense, rushing for 166 yards and averaging 5.7 yards per rush. Hawai'i had 546 yards of total offense, including 413 passing yards.
After trading punts to begin the game, both sides then traded field goals with junior K Tanner Rinker connecting from 20 yards out to tie the game. Hawaii's Micah Alejado then threw an 18-yard touchdown to Pofele Ashlock. The Aggies responded with a seven-play, 47-yard drive capped off with a 1-yard touchdown plunge by M. Davis. After stopping a fake punt from the Rainbow Warriors, USU then took the lead on the first play of their ensuing drive as Jacobs hauled in a 30-yard touchdown catch from Garcia on a trick play. Alejado pushed the Rainbow Warriors back in front with seven- and 31-yard touchdown throws to Ashlock sandwiched around a 40-yard field goal from Rinker that sent the Aggies into halftime down 24-20.
A failed on-side kick from Hawaii gave USU excellent starting field position to begin the second half. The Aggies took advantage three plays later with Barnes finding Lane for a 32-yard touchdown to push Utah State back in front. A blocked extra point, however, helped turn the momentum in favor of the Rainbow Warriors, who responded with 20 unanswered points on a pair of rushing touchdowns and field goals. Utah State twice drove into Hawaii territory in the fourth quarter to attempt a comeback but were thwarted on both drives as the Rainbow Warriors sealed the win.
Freshman OLB Chris Joe led the Aggie defense with a pair of sacks as USU racked up a season-high 5.0 sacks and a season-high-tying 7.0 tackles for loss. Junior DT Tyree Morris added a sack while senior ILB John Miller, senior DT Gabriel Iniguez Jr., redshirt freshman DT Carson Tujague and sophomore ILB Mataira Brown each added 0.5 sacks. Sophomore CB D'Angelo Mayes recorded his second interception of the season for USU's lone takeaway of the game. Junior S Brevin Hamblin led the Aggies with eight total tackles, while senior S Ike Larsen made his season debut and finished with seven tackles.
