LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball junior guard Mason Falslev was named to the 2026 Jerry West Award watch list, it was announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The annual Jerry West Award, named after the late Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player, celebrates its 12th year by highlighting the top shooting guards in Division I men's college basketball. Falslev is one of 20 players highlighted on the award's preseason watch list, and is the only one from the Mountain West Conference.
Falslev, a native of Benson, Utah, is coming off of an outstanding sophomore campaign in which he earned all-Mountain West second team accolades in 2024-25. Falslev led the team in both rebounds (6.3) and steals (2.3) per game last season, and ranked second on the team in points (15.0) and assists (3.7) per game. He led the squad in minutes played with 32.4 per contest, and shot an efficient 49.7 percent (197-of-396) from the field and 39.0 percent (53-of-136) from 3-point range.
Falslev was also named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team, as announced by the league last week.
Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting in each of the three rounds starting on Friday, October 31. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2026 Jerry West Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February, to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to West's family and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected. The selection committee for the Jerry West Award is composed of top men's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
