LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis heads to San Diego this weekend to compete in the 68th Men's Intercollegiate Championships. The tournament will take place Thursday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 12. Last year, Utah State; Sergi Micó Fenollar captured the singles title as the No. 3 seed five singles victories, all in straight sets, to secure a wildcard entry into an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) event.

Utah State men's tennis wrapped up a successful weekend split between the Mountain West Fall Qualifier in Las Vegas and the Utah Invitational in Salt Lake City, highlighted by strong performances from junior Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Xavier Calvelo.

Badon led the Aggies with a third-place finish at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier, collecting four victories, including wins over Nevada's Axel Huysmans (6-1, 6-2), New Mexico's Dario Ciobotaru (5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (6), and Air Force's Tyler Leaird (6-2, 6-3), before closing with a straight-sets victory against New Mexico's Philip Bosin (6-3, 6-2).

Calvelo advanced to the quarterfinals and finished with a 5-1 singles record after earning key wins over San Diego State's Imran Daniel Abdul Hazli (6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3) and Boise State's Filip Soderqvist (7-6 (5), 7-6 (5), then adding two more victories in consolation play. Sophomore Roman Venger also earned a three-set win over Nevada's Remy Tregoures (4-6, 6-2, 7-5), while junior Jakub Medved posted a 6-4, 2-1 (ret.) win against San Diego State's Lars Johann.

At the Utah Invitational, junior Emmanuel Alex and sophomore Dmitri Goubin led the Aggies in doubles, earning wins over Montana State's Andre Stewart and Yassin Elaroussy (6-0) and Idaho State's Valentino De Pellegrin and Luka Vujacic (7-5). Alex added two straight-set singles victories against Idaho State's Quentin Lamothe (6-2, 7-6 (4)) and Montana State's Eddie Biss (6-3, 6-2), while junior Keanu Rigby notched a 6-0, 6-4 win over Idaho State's Tyler Dalos.
