KICKOFF COVERAGE
• With a win against UNLV, Utah State will be bowl eligible for the 12th time in the last 15 years after playing in just six bowl games in its first 119 years. USU played in five straight bowl games from 2011-15 and won three straight from 2012-14, both of which are school records.
• With its win against Nevada last weekend, Utah State now has five victories this year, surpassing last year's total as the Aggies finished the 2024 campaign with a 4-8 record.
• Utah State is 58-40 (.592) all-time in Mountain West play, including a 25-22 (.532) road record. USU has the third-best record against MW opponents since it joined the league in 2013. Boise State (86-18) has the best record, while San Diego State (66-34) has the second-best record.
• Junior S Brevin Hamblin was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Nevada last weekend as he had a team-high eight tackles, including a career-high-tying 1.0 sacks and a season-high 1.5 tackles for loss. Hamblin also intercepted his first-career pass and returned it 38 yards for his first-career touchdown and recovered his first-career fumble in the red zone at the 1-yard line. In the first half, Hamblin and the Aggie defense limited Nevada to zero points, zero first downs and 47 yards of total offense, including minus one passing yards, as USU lead 41-0 at the break.
• Junior K Tanner Rinker is one of just six FBS kickers to not miss a field goal this year with a minimum of 10 attempts. Rinker is 10-of-10 on the season on field goal attempts.
• Graduate QB Bryson Barnes has seven rushing touchdowns this year and is one shy of tying the single season school record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback of eight that was set by Chuckie Keeton in 2012. Barnes has rushed for 937 yards during his USU career and is 63 yards shy of becoming the 35th player and fourth quarterback in school history to rush for 1,000 yards.
• Barnes ranks first or second in the Mountain West in six different statistical categories. Overall, he is 14th in the nation in points responsible for per game at 16.4, 16th in total touchdowns with 24, and 31st in passing touchdowns with 17.
