LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer graduate midfielder Rine Yonaha has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 10. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the student-athlete of the week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Yonaha, a native of Okinawa, Japan, helped Utah State to a third-straight Mountain West Tournament Championship with a 1-0 win over second-seed Air Force in the semifinal round and a 2-2 draw with a 4-2 penalty kick shootout win against top-seed Boise State in the championship.
Against the Falcons, Yonaha assisted on the team's lone goal, a 97th minute golden goal in overtime. She also took a team-best four shots with one on goal. Against the Broncos, Yonaha scored a goal in the 64th minute to put USU ahead 2-0, then scored the leadoff penalty kick in the PK shootout. She took a team-high-tying two shots with one on goal. On the week, Yonaha totaled a goal and an assist with six shots and two on goal, while playing 191 of a possible 200 minutes.
UP NEXT
Utah State (10-6-6, 5-2-3 MW) earned an automatic bid to play in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history, and the third-straight. The Aggies will learn their tournament fate this afternoon during the tournament selection show, at 2 p.m., streamed on NCAA.org.

All seating at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field is general admission. Seating in the stadium bleachers is first come, first served. MEN'S BASKETBALL – Senior guard MJ Collins Jr. (Clover, South Carolina) helped Utah State to a 2-0 record last week to open its 2025-26 campaign with a 110-54 home win against Westminster and an 80-77 neutral site victory over VCU. Against the Griffins, Collins scored a team- and career-high 23 points, to go along with four rebounds, three steals and one assist, while shooting 9-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Against the Rams, he had a team-high 22 points, along with three rebounds and one assist, shooting 8-of-15 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range, and 4-of-4 at the free throw line. For the week, Collins averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game, while shooting 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the field, 78.3 percent (7-of-12) from deep and 100.0 percent (4-of-4) at the free throw line.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Graduate guard Karyn Sanford (Bergen, Norway) scored 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting in Utah State's season-opening 90-53 loss to Utah. Sanford tied for the team lead with three assists and added two rebounds, one block and one steal.
FOOTBALL – Junior safety Brevin Hamblin (Syracuse, Utah) had a team-high eight tackles, including a career-high-tying 1.0 sacks and a season-high 1.5 tackles for loss, in Utah State's 51-14 Mountain West home win against Nevada. Hamblin also intercepted his first career pass and returned it 38 yards for his first-career touchdown and recovered his first-career fumble in the red zone at the 1-yard line. In the first half, Hamblin and the Aggie defense limited to Nevada to zero first downs and 47 yards of total offense, including minus one passing yards.
MEN'S TENNIS – Sophomore Emmanuel Alex (San Pedro, California) led the Aggies with two singles victories at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic, beating Northern Arizona's Jakub Volesky in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) and coming back to defeat Ivan Perisic in three sets (6-7, 6-4, 6-3). Alex also picked up two doubles victories playing alongside sophomore teammate Eliot Nobel, defeating a pair of from Northern Arizona, 6-4 and 6-2.
VOLLEYBALL – Senior middle blocker Tierney Barlow (Colorado Springs, Colorado) led Utah State with a .514 hitting percentage in a pair of Mountain West home wins against Colorado State (3-1) and Wyoming (3-0) to clinch at least a share of the MW regular season title. Barlow totaled 21 kills, averaging 3.0 per set, and added seven blocks, two aces and two assists on the week. She only had two attack errors on 37 total attempts. She finished with 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage alongside two aces and four blocks against the Rams. Against Wyoming, Barlow posted nine kills on 17 attempts without any attack errors for a .529 hitting percentage, also contributing three blocks.
