LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the signing of Nicole Ogun on Wednesday.
"We're ecstatic to have Nicole joining us," Brooks said. "She's very explosive around the rim and a really great rebounder in addition to being a great person. She had a tremendous summer playing for Finland's U18 national team at the EuroBasket 2025 where they finished second to Spain. She reminds me a lot of a kid I coached at Michigan named Naz Hillmon with her ability to go get boards– obviously she's a double-digit rebounder– her ability to defend and her ability to finish around the rim. I think in our system, she's going to come in and play right away. We're excited to have her."
Ogun joins the Aggies out of Kirkkonummi, Finland, where she also attended Mattlidens Gymnasium in Espoo. Ogun, a 6-foot-1 forward, most recently played for Espoo Basket Team of the Finnish Korisliiga, the top professional league in Finland, where she is averaging 18.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.8 steals and 1.5 assists in 29.2 minutes per game this season. She was named the Rookie of the Year in 2022-23 after averaging 11.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists, including a 21-point, 23-rebound game against Freeniks. She also helped her team to a third-place finish in the league last season.
Ogun also has extensive experience and awards playing for Finland's youth national teams at the U16, U17 and U18 levels. She earned All-Star 5 honors at the FIBA U16 European Championships in 2023 and earned BWB All Star honors in 2024 at the Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Europe tournament. At the 2025 U18 Women's Eurobasket, Ogun averaged 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game to help Finland to a second-place finish at the tournament. Against Slovenia in the group phase, Ogun posted 21 points in 21 minutes, also adding five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. In 2024 at the U18 Eurobasket, Ogun averaged 10.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game to help Finland to a fourth-place finish, including a 16-point, 16-rebound, 4-assist game versus Israel during the group phase.
