Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Utah State men's tennis wrapped up play at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic this weekend, competing in several close three-set matches and picking up a few solid wins in singles and doubles play.
Sophomore Emmanuel Alex led the Aggies with two singles victories, beating Northern Arizona's Jakub Volesky, 6-4, 6-4, and coming back to defeat Ivan Perisic, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. He also battled in a tight three-set loss to Vincent Vohl, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4.
Sophomore Eemil Pasanen added a straight-set win over Kai Mills, 6-3, 6-2, and took Daniels Tens to three sets before falling 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Junior Keanu Rigby also pushed two matches to the wire, winning the first set against Tens before losing 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, and dropping a close 7-6, 6-4 match to Mills.
Freshman Eliot Nobel fought through two three-set matches of his own, going 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 against Noa Tcherniack and 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 versus Takumi Katsuda.
In doubles, Nobel and Alex teamed up for two wins, defeating Tcherniack and Volesky, 6-4, and Perisic and Tens, 6-2.
