TEMPE, Arizona - Utah State men's tennis dropped its first two matches of the weekend against No. 49 Washington, 4-0, and UTSA, 4-1, on Friday at the Kiwanis Tennis Center.
  
Doubles vs Washington
The Huskies took the doubles point with wins at each of the top two positions in the lineup. At the third court, sophomore Keanu Rigby and freshman Eemil Pasanen were leading, 5-2, at the time the doubles point was clinched and the match was abandoned. 
 
Singles vs Washington
Washington scored straight-set victories at the second, third and sixth positions of singles play to ultimately clinch the match. Senior David Martirosian won his second set to extend his match to a third set at the No. 1 position, ultimately abandoning the match with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 1-1. At the fourth position, freshman Eliot Nobel also managed to win his opening set, 6-4, before his match was also abandoned early in the second set.
 
Doubles vs UTSA
UTSA claimed the doubles point with wins at the first and third positions of the lineup. At court two, freshmen Dmitri Goubin and Roman Venger battled to a 6-6 tie before the match was abandoned.
 
Singles vs UTSA
Freshman Eliot Nobel earned USU's first point of the day, tying the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the fourth position of singles play. The Roadrunners, however, scored straight-set wins at the third, fifth and sixth positions to clinch the match. At the No. 1 position, Martirosian held a 6-4, 3-1 lead at the match was clinched.
 
Next Up
Utah State faces one remaining match as part of the weekend's tournament and will take on Liberty tomorrow at a time to be determined.
