BOISE, Idaho – Utah State women's basketball set a program record for made 3-pointers in a season but fell to Boise State, 72-59, on Tuesday night at ExtraMile Arena.
USU started off quickly, scoring the game's first five points and going up 9-2 in the early going. Junior guard
Jamisyn Heaton hit a pair of layups to help the Aggies gain an early advantage. Another 5-0 run in the second quarter featured a 3-pointer from freshman guard
Elise Livingston and a layup from senior guard
Cheyenne Stubbs and extended Utah State's lead to eight, its largest yet of the game.The Broncos fought back, however, closing the half on a 14-2 run to take a 26-22 lead into halftime.

Carlie Latta plus another 3 from Stubbs immediately erased BSU's lead to begin the second half. The Aggies recaptured the lead on several occasions over the ensuing four minutes following buckets from Stubbs and junior guard/forward
Taliyah Logwood but the Broncos responded on each occasion to jump back in front, eventually rebuilding an eight-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The Aggies again climbed back within three courtesy of another layup from Logwood and a 3-pointer from Stubbs before Boise State used a 15-5 run to extend the lead to double digits in the final minutes.
Stubbs' 3-pointer was Utah State's 248th made 3 of the season, surpassing the program record of 247 set by the team in 2012-13. With another five 3-pointers, the Aggies now stand at 249 made 3-pointers on the season.
Heaton and Stubbs each scored 17 points to lead the team in scoring. Stubbs also led USU with three steals and tied for the team lead in rebounds alongside freshman guard
Elise Livingston with six apiece. Latta tied her career-high with six assists to lead Utah State.
As a team, the Aggies shot 23-of-64 (35.9 percent) from the field and 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from behind the arc. USU also shot a perfect 8-for-8 on free throws. Utah State did outscore Boise State, 10-7, in points off turnovers and held a 34-26 edge in points in the paint.

The Aggies are set for the Mountain West Tournament to take place in Las Vegas on Sunday through Wednesday, March 9 through 12. USU's awaits other outcomes in the conference to determine its seed and opponent.
