LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's tennis won its second match of the week and improved to 8-6 on its spring season following a 5-2 home win against Montana State on Sunday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.

"It's good to finally get that doubles point. We have gone way too many matches without one. It helped that we had a full lineup today, it helped that we made returns, and it helped that we were much more aggressive at the net. So very happy to get that doubles point and the win."
 
Doubles
Utah State took the early lead by clinching the doubles point as senior Sergi Micó Fenollar and freshman Eemil Pasanen notched a 6-2 win at the third position, while sophomore Mohammad Alkotop and freshman Dmitri Goubin posted a 6-1 win at the second position. Senior David Martirosian and freshman Eliot Nobel had their match left unfinished at the first position as the duo was leading 5-2.
 
Singles
Utah State then claimed the first three singles points to win the match. Freshman Roman Venger posted a win in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-2, 6-2). Alkotop followed with a win in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (6-3, 6-4) and Martirosian notched a win in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (6-3, 6-4).
 
Montana State fought back and recorded a pair of wins. First, Dmitry Bezborodov defeated Micó Fenollar in a three-set tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot (6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) and Harrison James defeated Nobel at the No. 5 spot in a three-set tiebreaker (6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-5). Goubin concluded the match by posting a win at the No. 6 spot in a three-set tiebreaker (4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8).
