LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis controlled the match from the onset on its way to the team's third-straight victory and its seventh win in eight matches, defeating Idaho, 7-0, on Sunday at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
 
Doubles 
The Aggies set the tone early as senior David Martirosian and freshman Eliot Nobel posted a 6-1 victory at the top spot of the doubles lineup to put USU in the lead. At court three, senior Sergi Micó Fenollar and freshman Keanu Rigby won the race to clinch the doubles point, posting a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. At the second position, sophomore Mohammad Alkotop and freshman Dmitri Goubin also led, 5-2, at the time the doubles point was clinched.
 
Singles 
In singles play, Utah State maintained momentum with straight-set wins at five of six positions of the lineup. At the fifth court, Nobel was the first Aggie across the finish line, putting USU up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Freshman Roman Venger followed shortly thereafter with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Martirosian then claimed the clinching honors at the third position with a 6-2, 6-1 win to secure the Aggie victory.
 
Playing all matches to completion, Goubin further solidified USU's win with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the sixth position. Micó Fenollar finished out a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the top spot in the lineup to put Utah State up, 6-0. Lastly at No. 2 singles, Alkotop bounced back after dropping the first set to outlast his opponent in three sets for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory to complete the 7-0 sweep.
 
Next Up
Utah State returns to conference play, hosting No. 74 New Mexico at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Thursday, April 17, at noon. The Aggies will then celebrate Senior Day against Air Force on Saturday, April 19, at noon, at the SARC.
