LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis sophomore
Mohammad Alkotop has been named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The sophomore from Amman, Jordan, went 2-0 in singles play last week to help the Aggies go 1-1 as a team. Alkotop scored USU's lone point against New Mexico with a 6-2, 7-5 win over UNM's Aditya Balsekar. Alkotop then kickstarted USU's dominance in singles play against Air Force, tying the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over AF's Arjun Kersten
The award is Alkotop's first time being named the conference player of the week. Alkotop was previously named the MW Freshman of the Week in the final week of the 2024 dual match season.
Next Up
Utah State heads into the Mountain West Tournament as the conference's No. 3-seed and will face No. 6-seeded San Diego State on Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. (MT). The Aggies recorded a 4-0 home sweep of the Aztecs earlier this season.
