LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men's basketball coach
Jerrod Calhoun announced the signing of forward Luke Kearney on Tuesday
. Kearney will join the Aggies as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining in 2025-26.
Kearney, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, joins Utah State after spending the previous two seasons at Air Force. There, he was a starter for the Falcons and ranked second on the team in scoring last season.

He brings toughness, versatility and a team-first mentality that aligns perfectly with our culture. We're excited about the leadership and competitiveness he'll add to our program as we continue to build something special here in Logan."
While starting 22 of the team's 32 games in 2024-25 and playing 26.6 minutes per outing, Kearney averaged 8.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest. He led the squad in 3-pointers made with 52, 13th-most of any player in the Mountain West. He also led the team in free throw percentage, connecting on 47-of-56 (.839) of his shots at the charity stripe. Kearney scored in double-figures 12 times, including going for a double-double with season-bests of 20 points and 11 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes at Fresno State.
As a freshman at Air Force in 2023-24, Kearney played as a reserve in 20 games, averaging 10.7 minutes per night. That season, he went for 4.0 points and 0.9 rebounds per contest. He scored a season-high 16 points while shooting 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 2-of-2 at the free throw line at UNLV, while also bringing down four rebounds.
Prior to his time at the academy, Kearney, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, attended the USAFA Prep School and played on the basketball team in 2022-23. He attended Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona, as a high school senior in 2021-22 where he averaged 15 points per game. Kearney began his prep career at Sandra Day O'Connor High School in Phoenix, where he was an all-region honoree as he averaged 19 points per game.
