LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the signing of Karyn Sanford on Friday.

"Karyn Sanford gives us another guard with size and a plethora of Division-I experience," Brooks said, "as well as a high IQ player who can play in multiple spots in our offense and defend multiple positions on defense. She is a very good passer and elite shooter which we value very much in our style of play. We are thrilled that she has decided to become an Aggie."

Sanford arrives at USU after spending the past two seasons at Tarleton State, appearing in 54 games and making seven starts for the Texans. As a junior in 2024-25, Sanford averaged 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game while shooting 34.9 percent from the floor and 91.7 percent from the free throw line. She scored a season- and career-high 14 points at nationally-ranked Nebraska, going 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point line, and later matched the 14-point effort against California Baptist, also going 4-of-8 from behind the arc and tying her season-high with five rebounds.

Prior to Tarleton State, Sanford began her collegiate career at Albany where she played in 19 games and averaged 9.1 minutes per contest while helping the Retrievers to a 14-2 record in the America East Conference, a run to the championship game of the conference tournament and a berth in the WNIT. She recorded a season-high 10 points against UNLV, going 2-of-4 on 3-point attempts.

Originally from Bergen, Norway, Sanford graduated from Metis Videregående and competed for Norway in the European Championship, Nordic Championships, and both the U16 and U19 Norwegian Championships, totaling three MVP awards and five All-Star honors. She tallied 18 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in two games at the Eurocup Qualifiers in 2021 for Norway. Sanford also represented her country in the European Girls Basketball League for three seasons.
