BOISE, Idaho – Utah State softball (26-25, 11-11 MW) wrapped up the regular season portion of its 2025 schedule with a loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to Boise State 12-2 in five innings at Huber Field in Boise.
After allowing a single run in the first to fall behind early, the Aggies responded in the top of the second with one of their two runs of the day. Senior outfielder
Giselle Gonzalez delivered a solo shot over the left center field wall, extending her single season program record with her 17th home run of the season.
Back-to-back errors by the USU infield to start the bottom of the second eventually resulted in another Boise State run, but it wasn't until the third that the Broncos took control of the contest as they put seven runs on the board to go up 9-1 with three home runs in the inning. Boise State then tacked on three more in the fourth to move firmly into run-rule territory.
In the fifth, the Aggies scored one more run as a fielder's choice by senior infielder
Ariel Fifita brought junior pinch runner
Kenzee Hale across the bag.
Utah State was out-hit 13-4 in the loss, with three errors. The Aggies went 4-for-17 (.235) at the plate, with its four hits coming from four different bats.
USU utilized four different arms in the pitching circle. Junior
Emmalyn Brinka started, going 2.2 innings with two earned runs and three hits allowed, striking out four batters. Junior
Denay Smith entered and exited in the third after allowing three hits and three earned runs. Junior
Carly Limosnero went 0.1 innings with two earned runs and four hits allowed, before junior Sydney Saldaña took the final inning with three earned runs and three hits allowed.
UP NEXT
Utah State (26-25, 11-11 MW) will now prepare for the Mountain West Softball Championships, which will take place from May 7-10 in San Diego, California.
