Game Recap: Softball |
SAN DIEGO, California – Utah State softball (26-26, 11-11 MW) saw its 2025 season come to a close Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Mountain West Softball Championship, as the 5-seed Aggies fell to 4-seed Boise State 6-0 at SDSU Softball Stadium in San Diego.

The Aggies created offensive opportunities early, but couldn't take advantage of leadoff base runners in the first and second innings as double plays put a premature end to each inning.

Boise State pulled ahead early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on a fielder's choice and a single. The Broncos were held in check in the second, but an early infield error in the third inning led to a pair of unearned Boise State runs as it took a 4-0 advantage.

Utah State continued to generate chances at the plate, but left a runner on base in the fourth, two on in the fifth, and one on in the sixth innings. On the flip side, Boise State used a four-hit fourth to bring in two more runs and extend its lead to 6-0.

The Aggie defense did its part to keep the game alive, holding the Broncos off the board in the fifth and sixth innings, stranding runners in both, but were unable to get anything going at the plate. In need of a rally in the seventh, Utah State generated a pair of hits, but were once again unable to get any of them around the bags.

In total, USU recorded seven hits to Boise State's 12. The Aggies went 7-for 26 (.269) at the plate, led by a 2-for-3 hitting performance by senior infielder Giselle Gonzalez

Utah State utilized two arms in the circle, as juniors Rylie Pindel and Emmalyn Brinka split the pitching duties. Pindel threw the majority of the contest, taking the first 2.2 innings and the final 1.2 innings, with Brinka earning the final out of the third and first out of the fourth. Pindel allowed nine hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts, while Brinka allowed three hits and two earned runs.
