LOGAN, Utah – After helping lead the Utah State soccer team to a 1-0 start to its 2025 campaign with a 1-0 road win over Washington State, graduate goalkeeper Taylor Rath was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.
Rath, a native of Las Vegas, Nevada, helped the Aggie defense post a shutout against the Cougars as she started and played all 90 minutes in goal. Rath had two saves in the match — an outreached save to poke a shot over the frame in the 30th minute, and a diving save in the 54th minute.
This is the first MW weekly honor of Rath's career.
Rath and the Aggies (1-0, 0-0 MW) will play a pair of games next week, first traveling to Stockton, California, to take on Pacific on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 8 p.m. (MT). The team will return to Bell Field for its home opener against Utah on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m.
