LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer (1-1-1, 0-0 MW) earned a 0-0 draw against Kansas (3-0-1, 0-0 Big 12) in the team's 2025 home opener on Sunday afternoon at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field.
In a match featuring two conference tournament champions from last season, both sides brought physical defense to the pitch to hold the opponent to only four shots on goal. The Jayhawks narrowly outshot the Aggies for the game, 10-9, as Utah State recorded a 7-2 advantage in the opening 45 minutes while Kansas held an 8-2 lead in total shots in the second half. KU also earned six corner kicks while USU did not record a corner kick in the match.
Graduate keeper
Taylor Rath made four saves in the match to preserve the scoreless draw, including a leaping save to push a shot just out of the net in the 39th minute.
MATCH NOTES
- Eight different Aggies recorded a shot in the contest.
- Senior forward Kaylie Chambers led Utah State with two total shots, while the quartet of senior forward Tess Werts, junior forward Kate Christian and sophomore forwards Mia Mullenmeister and Ellie Hendrix each recorded a shot on goal for USU.
- Sunday's match was the first all-time meeting between Utah State and Kansas.
- The Aggies are now 13-43-4 all-time versus Big 12 opponents, including five wins under head coach Manny Martins.
