LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the signing of Rachel Wilson on Monday.
"We are excited to add Rachel to our roster," Brooks said. "She will provide us experience and depth in the post. She will also be able to provide a proven voice within the defensive system coach Anna will be implementing."
Wilson arrives to Logan after spending the last three seasons at Wheeling, playing under current USU associate head coach Anna Kowalska and starting 54 of 55 games for the Cardinals in the past two seasons. Last year as a junior, Wilson led Wheeling in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game and shooting over 50.0 percent from the field to help the Cardinals to a 3-seed at the MEC Tournament and earning second-team all-MEC honors. Wilson scored in double-figures 17 times last season, including a career-high 22 points against Frostburg State. She also recorded 10 double-doubles on the year, including a 20-point, 18-rebound performance against Glenville State. As a sophomore in 2023-24, Wilson averaged 9.5 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Cardinals, posting season-highs of 21 points against West Liberty and 12 rebounds against Edinboro. Wilson also redshirted her first season at Wheeling in 2022-23.
Prior to Wheeling, Wilson played her freshman campaign at Life University, appearing in 30 games with 23 starts. Wilson led the Running Eagles with 7.2 rebounds per game and added 8.5 points per contest. She scored a season-high 18 points against Truett McConnell and 14 rebounds against Lindsey Wilson. Wilson finished with four double-doubles on the year, including a 15-point, 12-rebound game against Shawnee State. For her career, Wilson has recorded 16 total double-doubles.
Wilson played her high school career at Central HS in Carrollton, Georgia, where she was a three-sport athlete across basketball, track & field and cheerleading. She served as team captain for the Lions during her senior season.
