POCATELLO, Idaho – Utah State men's tennis wrapped up play at the Idaho State Invite this weekend, highlighted by quarterfinal singles runs from junior Keanu Rigby and sophomore Dmitri Goubin.
Rigby battled through two three-set victories to reach the quarterfinals. He opened with a comeback win against Idaho State's Sam Wensley, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3, and followed it up by defeating ISU's Tyler Dalos, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. His run ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Lewie Bouman of Idaho State.
Goubin advanced with a straight-set win in the second round, taking down Montana State's Andre Stewart, 6-3, 6-2.
Freshman Emmanuel Alex also recorded multiple wins, beginning with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over ISU's Rafael Maya in the opening round. He later added another victory in extra matches, defeating ISU's Quentin LaMothe, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Jakub Medved secured a win in extra play, edging Dalos in a match tiebreak, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (12-10).
