Utah State’s Broc Lane Named a Semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football graduate tight end Broc Lane has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy it was announced on Wednesday.
 
Lane was one of 177 players named as a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, with players from all NCAA divisions and the NAIA being selected. Lane graduated from Utah State in May 2024 with a degree in exercise science and is currently pursuing an MBA.
 
Celebrating its 36th year, the Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Candidates for the award must be a senior who will complete his final year of eligibility in the 2025 season or graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree and participating in the 2025 season. Candidates must also have a GPA of at least 3.2 and have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. A total of 12-16 finalists will be announced on Oct. 22 with the winner being announced on Dec. 9.
 
Lane, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end from Chandler, Arizona (Perry HS), has appeared in every game this season and has made two starts. He has two catches for 50 yards and hauled in a 52-yard touchdown catch during USU's season-opening victory over UTEP. Prior to this season, Lane earned all-Mountain West honorable mention in 2023 as he started 10 of the 11 games he played in and caught 21 receptions for 208 yards and one touchdown. Last season, Lane finished with 19 catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, Lane has appeared in 37 games for Utah State with 18 starts and has totaled 50 catches for 503 yards and five touchdowns. Lane is also a four-time academic all-MW member and three-time MW scholar-athlete.
