CHANDLER, Arizona - Utah State men's tennis began its 2026 dual match campaign in stellar fashion, defeating Wichita State, 5-2, in a neutral court match on Friday afternoon at the Chandler Tennis Center.
 
Doubles 
Hitting the court for the first time since the fall tournament season, sophomore Eliot Nobel and freshman Jakub Medved started the Aggies' season off with a 6-4 win at the top spot of the doubles lineup over WSU's Alejandro Jacome and Luke Bracks. After the Shockers squared the contest for the doubles point with a win at the second position, senior Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Eemil Pasanen then secured the opening point of the match with a tightly-contested 7-6 (7) win at the third position over Pablo Roche Alcaya and Rodrigo Cruz.

Singles 
Utah State continued its momentum in singles play as Badon swiftly gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 1 position over WSU's Jacome. The Shockers pulled one back at the fourth position before Medved secured his own straight-sets win, 7-5, 6-4, over Roche Alcaya at the No. 5 spot. Sophomore Xavier Calvelo then clinched the win for USU with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over Wichita's Ilias Worthington. Playing all matches to completion, Nobel further solidified the Aggie victory with a comeback 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 position. Wichita State then earned a second point at the sixth position to finish out the match.
