MISSOULA, Montana - Utah State men's tennis battled to a 4-3 win over Montana on Sunday morning at Peak Racquet Club.
 
Doubles 
In doubles play, freshman Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Eemil Pasanen picked up a 6-3 victory at the third position to give USU an early lead. Montana ultimately secured the doubles point with a pair of close wins at the first and second positions, however, recording 6-4 and 7-5 wins, respectively.

Singles 
Utah State competed strongly across the singles lineup against Montana to earn the comeback victory. At the No. 2 spot, sophomore Xavier Calvelo tied the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Montana's Baltic Wiger-Nordan. Badon then gave USU the lead with a win at the top spot of the lineup over UM's Tom Bittner, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Roman Venger extended the lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fourth position over Matt Upton. The Grizzlies battled back with a win at the third position before freshman Emmanuel Alex delivered the clinching point at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Moritz Lesjak. Montana claimed a final point at the fifth position for the final score.

Utah State returns home for their first home match of the season, hosting Northern Arizona on Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. (MT) at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in Logan, Utah.
