LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball used an all-around effort in a near wire-to-wire victory Wednesday night at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, dominating Wyoming for a 94-62 win.
In what was the largest-ever margin of victory for either side in the 92-game series between the Aggies and the Cowboys, Utah State led by as many as 38 points and led for over 38 minutes of action.
The USU offense had one of its most efficient performances of the season as the Aggies recorded 28 assists, their second-most of the year, on 33 made baskets. The team also recorded a season-low five turnovers, its fewest in a game since 2024.
Five different USU players reached double-figures in the scoring column, including a season-high 20-point effort by senior guard Kolby King, who came off the bench to lead the squad in scoring with an efficient 6-of-9 shooting effort including 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. King also led the Aggies on the glass, bringing down seven rebounds, to go along with two assists and a block.
In total, the bench accounted for 54 of Utah State's 94 points as three reserves scored in double-figures. Along with King's big scoring night, senior forward Garry Clark tallied 13 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes, while junior wing Tucker Anderson went for 11 points in 14 minutes.
The Aggies came out hot in this one, answering an early 4-2 Cowboy lead with a 13-0 run to take firm control, as Wyoming never got within eight points the rest of the way. Utah State shot with blistering efficiency early on, making seven of its first nine field goals and eight of its first 13 3-pointers of the night.
After leading by nine points with eight minutes to play in the first half, the Aggies closed out the period by scoring 18 of the game's final 23 points before the break. That run stretched into the second half, as USU extended its advantage to its largest of the game, a 38-point lead at 77-39. From the 7:57 mark of the first half to the 10:30 mark of the second half, Utah State out-scored Wyoming 45-16.
With the game firmly in hand, the Aggie bench was able to maintain the lead through much of the second half, while no USU starter had to play more than 23 minutes in the contest.
Freshman forward Adlan Elamin had one of the strongest all-around performances of his young career while starting the game and playing 23 minutes, as he went for nine points, five rebounds, a career-high five assists and a career-high four steals.
The Aggies scored 21 points off of 13 Wyoming turnovers. They also took advantage down low, posting a 38-24 scoring advantage in the paint.
