OPENING TIPS

  • Utah State begins its 122th season of men's basketball on Monday as it hosts Big Sky foe Idaho State.

  • USU hired coaching veteran Ben Jacobson as the 23rd head coach in program history on March 30, 2026. Jacobson joins the Aggies after 20 seasons as the head coach at Northern Iowa, a tenure which included two NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 runs.

  • Last season, Utah State went 29-7 overall and 15-5 in conference play.

  • The Aggies won both the outright Mountain West regular season title, and the MW Tournament championship. This was the 19th conference title in team history, and the 11th tournament championship.

  • USU's 29 wins were the third-most in a season in program history.

  • Utah State qualified for its fifth NCAA Tournament in the past six years, where it defeated Villanova 86-76 in the opening round.

  • The Aggies return four players from last year's squad, including MW Player of the Year Mason Falslev and MW Sixth Man of the Year Karson Templin.

  • The team welcomes in 11 newcomers, including nine transfers and two freshmen.

  • This season will be Utah State's inaugural year as a member of the Pac-12 Conference, after spending the past 12 years in the Mountain West Conference.

  • All-time in season-openers, Utah State is 90-32, including wins in four-straight and 28 of the past 32.

  • Dallin Hall enters the season just 14 points shy of 1,000 points in his career. 214 of his points came last year at Virginia, with the other 772 coming while he was at BYU.

  • Mason Falslev enters the year 31 points shy of 1,500 in his career, all of which have come at Utah State. Only 13 players in school history have hit that mark.
