Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12) opened its 2026-27 campaign in dominant fashion Monday evening at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, earning a 94-58 victory over Idaho State. With the win, the Aggies have now won five-straight and 29 of their past 33 season openers.

The Aggie performance was highlighted by several strong debuts, as three USU newcomers scored in double figures led by an outstanding performance off the bench from sophomore wing Kingston Tosi, who went for 26 points and five boards in the first game of his college career. Tosi, who redshirted at Utah State last season, shot 11-of-16 from the floor in 27 minutes of action, while also leading the team with three steals.

Tosi's 26 points were the most by a player in their Utah State debut since Jay Goodman went for 33 points at BYU on Nov. 24, 1990.

While the Aggies controlled the game through most of the night, the majority of USU's advantage came in the second half, where it outscored ISU 57-29. The visitors battled tough in the early going, keeping Utah State within a pair of possessions until the final two minutes of the first half and trailing 37-29 at the break.

In the second half, USU saw its shooting percentage jump from 43 percent to 71 percent, connecting on an extremely efficient 24-of-34 shots in the final 20 minutes. The Aggie lead steadily increased throughout the half, capped by a 17-3 run in the closing minutes to capture their largest lead of the night at 39 points.

Along with the outstanding debut from Tosi, the duo of junior forward Will Hornseth and junior guard Solomon Callaghan each came up big in their first games and first starts in an Aggie uniform as well. Hornseth went for 15 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists while playing 26 minutes, while Callaghan went for 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in 31 minutes.

Foul trouble limited a pair of Aggie impact players, as senior guard Mason Falslev was limited to just 21 minutes before fouling out, while sophomore guard Brayden Boe was limited to 17 minutes before fouling out. Despite the short stint, Falslev came up just short of a double-double, going for nine points and nine rebounds, along with three assists and a pair of steals.

The Aggie offense moved the ball well, tallying 26 assists on 36 made baskets. Graduate guard Dallin Hall led the team with seven assists in his USU debut.

USU posted a major advantage on the glass, pulling down 48 rebounds to Idaho State's 25, led by Falslev's nine. The Aggies also dominated in both fast break points (21-2) and points in the paint (60-30).

Utah State finished the day shooting 58.1 percent (36-of-62) from the field, 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from 3-point range and 77.3 percent (17-of-22) at the free throw line. Idaho State shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the floor, 12.0 percent (3-of-25) from deep and 62.5 percent (15-of-24) at the charity stripe.
