LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's basketball lost to LMU 70-45 on Friday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Senior guard
Kylani Rookstool led the Aggies with nine points while adding three rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. The front court duo of sophomore center
Sami Mancini and freshman forward
Nicole Ogun both recorded eight points and helped USU win the rebounding battle with nine and eight rebounds, respectively. Ogun also had a block and a steal while Mancini added two steals and an assist.
Senior guard
Lisa Thompson began the game with a jumper in the lane to put USU on the board. Utah State utilized a balanced offense in the first half as eight different Aggies scored in the opening two frames, led by a pair of buckets from redshirt freshman
Mirembe Twehamye Montanana and junior forward
Macie Brown. Utah State carried a 21-16 edge in rebounding into the half and shot 45.0 percent from the field. 18 turnovers, however, prevented USU's offense from fully clicking as LMU took a 33-21 lead after the first 20 minutes.
The Lions opened the second half with a 7-0 run before the Aggies responded with a 10-2 stretch of their own. Rookstool anchored the run with three made baskets before Ogun scored a layup to cut the deficit back to 11 points to force an LMU timeout. Out of the break, LMU re-established control with a 10-0 stretch and USU was unable to further threaten the lead for the remainder of the contest.
Senior guard
Acacia Hayes led the team with three assists and two blocks in her Aggie debut. Redshirt sophomore
Saskia Kruger made her collegiate debut in the final minutes and recorded a block.
The Aggies shot 43.5 percent (20-of-46) from the field while holding the Lions to 40.3 percent (27-of-67). USU out rebounded LMU 39-33 and recorded six blocks, tied for the most by the Aggies since recorded eight rejections against Cal State Bakersfield in 2024.
