LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's basketball lost to New Mexico, 69-54, on Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Sophomore guard
Elise Livingston led the Aggies out of the gate with a pair of 3-pointers in the opening quarter to help the Aggies draw even with the Lobos at 10-10 entering the second quarter. The Lobos then used an 8-0 burst early in the frame to take tentative hold of the contest. Junior guard/forward

Aitana Rosello Lopez each added buckets to help the Aggies remain in contact entering halftime down, 32-23.
USU trimmed the deficit down further to seven points following a Gayles 3-pointer before back-to-back Lobo 3s restored a double-digit advantage for the visitors. New Mexico led by as many as 17 before the Aggies battled back with five-straight points, including a converted and-one opportunity by Heaton, her second three-point play of the quarter. Utah State cut the lead down to 12 points on multiple occasions spanning into the fourth quarter before New Mexico responded with a 13-4 stretch to seal the road victory.
Gayles led the Aggies with 15 points, also adding four rebounds and a steal. Livingston finished with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a pair of 3s, plus three rebounds. Heaton added 11 points and a team-high two blocks, also tying for the team lead in rebounds with five alongside Wilson, who finished with six points plus two assists, one steal and a block. Karyn Sanford led the team with three assists.
Utah State shot 36.4 percent (20-of-55) from the floor, 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from 3-point range and 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line. The Aggies also held the Lobos to 36.9 percent shooting (24-of-65) for the game, though UNM managed a 50.0 percent (12-of-24) mark from 3-point territory. USU managed to outscore the Lobos in the paint, 28-22, and carried a 12-10 edge in points off turnovers.
The Aggies recorded only nine personal fouls in the contest, marking USU's third game this season with single-digit fouls, tying the most in program history alongside the 2011-12 and 2021-22 seasons. Utah State also recorded only eight turnovers, making it just the second time USU has ever recorded single-digit fouls and turnovers in the same game in program history.

Utah State (6-21, 2-16) heads to the road for the final time of the regular season to take on Boise State on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. (MT). The Aggies will then return to the Spectrum one final time to celebrate Senior Day against Nevada on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. (MT).
