LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis swept the weekly awards from the Mountain West as sophomore
Eliot Nobel was named the MW Player of the Week and freshman
Jakub Medved earned Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Nobel, from Stockholm, Sweden, went 2–0 to help Utah State secure a 5–2 home victory over Northern Arizona last weekend. He earned a straight-sets win in singles, defeating his opponent 6–2, 6–1, and was the first Aggie to finish in singles play to extend Utah State's lead during the match. Nobel also played a key role in doubles, teaming with Medved for a 6–2 win against NAU's top pair to clinch the doubles point.
This is Nobel's first time being named the conference player of the week.
Medved went 2–0 across singles and doubles play to help Utah State the 5–2 home victory over the Lumberjacks. He teamed with Nobel for a 6–2 win at No. 1 doubles to clinch the doubles point and give the Aggies an early 1–0 lead. In singles play, Medved earned a hard-fought three-set victory, 6–7, 6–1, 1–0 (10–3), closing out the match with a dominant super tiebreak to seal the final point for Utah State.
This is Medved's first time earning freshman of the week honors from the MW.

Utah State takes to the road for a pair of matches in Eugene, Oregon, beginning with Oregon on Friday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m. (MT). The Aggies will remain in Eugene to face Portland on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. (MT).
