LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis swept the weekly awards from the Mountain West as sophomore Roman Venger was named the MW Player of the Week and freshman Jakub Medved earned Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Venger went 3-0 across singles and doubles to lead Utah State to a pair of 4-0 conference sweeps over No. 61 UNLV and Nevada to open Mountain West play. Venger clinched the team victory in both matches, recording identical 6-4, 6-4 wins at No. 3 singles over the Rebels and Wolf Pack. Venger also earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles alongside Eliot Nobel against UNLV to help secure the doubles point in the match.

This is Venger's first career conference player of the week award.

Medved recorded a pair of wins during USU's sweep of Nevada, playing alongside Xavier Calvelo at No.1 doubles to help clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win, then following it up as the first Aggie to finish in singles play, contributing a 6-4, 6-3 at the fifth position.

This is Medved's second time earning freshman of the week honors from the MW after also earning the honor on Feb. 4.
