FORT MYERS, Florida - Utah State men's tennis picked up a 4-1 road victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
 
Doubles 
Utah State grabbed early momentum in doubles play as senior Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Dmitri Goubin set the tone with a commanding 6-1 victory at the second position of the lineup. Sophomore Xavier Calvelo and freshman Jakub Medved followed shortly after with a 6-2 win at the top spot to secure the doubles point for the Aggies. At the third position, sophomores Eliot Nobel and Roman Venger were locked in a tight 4-4 battle when the match was left unfinished.

Singles 
Utah State carried that momentum into singles play, winning three of four completed matches to secure the 4-1 victory. Florida Gulf Coast earned its lone point of the match with a win at No. 6 singles before USU responded with three-straight wins to close it out. Senior Jean-Baptiste Badon quickly responded for the Aggies with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the top spot in the lineup. Sophomore Roman Venger then extended Utah State's lead with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win at the third position. Sophomore Eliot Nobel clinched the match for the Aggies with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. At the second and fifth positions, Calvelo and Medved were both in third-set battles when play was halted after the match was decided.

Utah State returns to action with a road match in the Sunshine State, taking on Florida Atlantic on Tuesday, March 10, at noon (MT).
