LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis swept the weekly awards from the Mountain West for the second-straight week as sophomore Xavier Calvelo was named the MW Player of the Week and freshman Jakub Medved earned Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday. The duo were also ranked 84th in the latest ITA doubles rankings.

The pair each went undefeated across singles and doubles play to help the Aggies record a pair of road sweeps at New Mexico and Air Force last week. In doubles action at the No. 1 position, Calvelo and Medved clinched the doubles point against the Lobos with a 7-6 (3) victory before posting a dominance 6-1 win against the Falcons to again help USU take the doubles point to begin the match.

In singles action, Calvelo earned a pair of straight-set victories at the second position. Calvelo clinched the team win against New Mexico with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over UNM's Philip Bosin. He then wrapped his weekend with a 6-3, 6-3 win over AF's Phillip Deaton to help USU secure a program-record fifth-consecutive sweep.

This is Calvelo's first time earning conference player of the week honors in his career.

Medved also posted two straight-set wins at the fifth position of the singles lineup. He posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against New Mexico's Tyler Waddock to double USU's lead in the match. Medved then clinched the team victory against Air Force with a 7-5, 7-6 (4) victory over the Falcons' Alec Fritzinger to conclude the weekend.

This is Medved's third time earning freshman of the week honors from the MW after also earning the honor last week and on Feb. 4.
