LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the hiring of Greg Gilman as assistant coach and offensive coordinator on Friday.
"I am excited to bring Greg on board," Brooks said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having spent time in SEC at Arkansas, as well as being an integral part of multiple professional players' development. Greg and I speak the same language offensively and I am looking forward to him adding his expertise to our offense."
Gilman arrives in Logan after spending last season as the director of on-court development at Arkansas. Gilman has also worked as an independent player development coach since 2018 and has enjoyed a successful career developing men's and women's basketball players, including NBA star Lu Dort (Oklahoma City Thunder) since 2019. Prior to Arkansas, Gilman has had coaching stops with the Toyota Antelopes of the Women's Japan Basketball League and as a graduate assistant at Southern Nazarene in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 2022-2024. Southern Nazarene ascended the national ranks in NCAA Division II, and tallied a 57-8 record over Gilman's two years with the program, including two regular season conference titles, a conference tournament championship, and two national tournament appearances, including a sweet 16. Prior to SNU, Gilman served as a team manager for head coach Bobby Hurley at Arizona State University.
In addition to Dort, Gilman has coached a number of NBA players, including Jaylin Williams and Chet Holmgren of the Thunder, Jericho Sims of the Milwaukee Bucks, Zylan Cheatham, Alan Williams, Matt Thomas, Ryan Boatright, Isaiah Roby and Jordan Shepherd amongst others. On the women's side, Gilman helped develop Danni Williams, Shiori Yasuma and Mai Yamamoto of the Toyota Antelopes and Japan National Team, Madison Conner, Jade Loville, Shaylee Gonzales, Caitlin Bickle, Sabrina Haines and Hannah Giddey.
