LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis is set to take on No. 8-seeded Nevada in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament set to take place in Las Vegas at the Darling Tennis Center on Wednesday through Saturday, April 22-25. The Aggies will take on the Wolf Pack on Wednesday at 2 p.m. (MT).
USU enters the tournament as the conference's No. 1 seed after completing an undefeated 7-0 run through conference play. This is the fifth time the Aggies have earned the top seed in the MW Tournament and second time under head coach
Aaron Paajanen. Utah State also earned the top seed in 2024 and in three-straight years from 2016-18. All-time, the Aggies are 11-8 at the MW Tournament, bringing home tournament titles in 2017 and 2018.
In the regular season meeting between USU and Nevada, the Aggies scored a 4-0 sweep spurred on by singles wins by
Roman Venger,
Eliot Nobel and
Jakub Medved. The sweep was the second of a program record six-straight for USU, including five against MW opponents.
Should the Aggies advance to the semifinal round, USU would face the winner between No. 4 UNLV and No. 5 Grand Canyon on Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. (MT).
