Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore
Emmanuel Alex won their opening match at the ITF M15 Claremont doubles tournament, each earning a pair of ATP points and an official ATP world ranking.
The pair earned a spot in the main draw of the M15 Claremont by winning the SoCal Pro Series Pre-Qualifier doubles tournament. In the M15 Claremont, the duo claimed a 7-5, 6-3 opening round victory over the tournament's third-seeded doubles team, Sathi Reddy Chirala and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of India, to advance to the quarterfinals. The pair then fell in three sets to Canada's Jared Horwood and Alexander Rozin.
In his freshman campaign for the Aggies, Alex finished with records of 9-13 in both singles and doubles play, including marks of 8-10 and 7-8 during the fall tournament season. Alex climbed as high as 55
th in the ITA Doubles rankings last year alongside junior
Eliot Nobel.
In his lone season at Utah State, Badon earned spots on the all-MW singles and doubles teams, leading the Aggies to Mountain West regular season and tournament titles while also earning MW Tournament MVP honors and recording the championship-clinching point in the title match against Boise State. Badon went an undefeated 6-0 in singles matches against MW competition, also leading a further four matches which were left unfinished, and reached the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships, qualifying for the ITA West Sectional Championships. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
