LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis earned ITA All-Academic Team honors while four players received ITA Scholar-Athlete awards, it was announced on Monday.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, individuals must carry a GPA of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above.
The Aggie men earned the team award after carrying a 3.40 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year. Individually,
Emmanuel Alex (3.88, majoring in business),
Jean-Baptiste Badon (3.72, integrated studies),
Jakub Medved (3.63, finance) and
Keanu Rigby (3.73, finance) all received ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
For Rigby, this is his third time being named an ITA Scholar-Athlete. The senior from Tremonton, Utah, posted records of 7-7 and 6-8 across singles and doubles play, respectively, this season for the Aggies.
This is Badon's first career ITA Scholar-Athlete nod. The senior from Los Angeles earned spots on the all-MW singles and doubles teams, leading the Aggies to Mountain West regular season and tournament titles while also earning MW Tournament MVP honors and recording the championship-clinching point in the title match against Boise State. Badon went an undefeated 6-0 in singles matches against MW competition, also leading a further four matches which were left unfinished, and reached the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships, qualifying for the ITA West Sectional Championships. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Alex earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in his first year at USU as the freshman from San Pedro, California, finished with records of 9-13 in both singles and doubles play, including marks of 8-10 and 7-8 during the fall tournament season. Alex climbed as high as 55th in the ITA Doubles rankings last year alongside junior
Eliot Nobel.
Medved also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors as a freshman for USU as the product of Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, went 16-17 in singles and 13-15 in doubles play on the year. Medved totaled three Mountain West Freshman of the Week awards during the spring season and earned all-MW doubles honors alongside sophomore
Xavier Calvelo with the duo also climbing as high as 84th in the national ITA doubles rankings.
