LOGAN, Utah — Utah State soccer (0-1-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) opened the home portion of its 2026 campaign with a draw against Big Ten foe Michigan Sunday night at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field, the Wolverines using a last-second goal to pull even in a 2-2 match.
The Aggies held firm control for the majority of the contest, using suffocating defense to keep the Wolverines without a single shot for the first 57 minutes, but a pair of late Michigan goals helped the visitors leave Logan with the draw.
Both of USU's goals came in the first half, as the Aggies outshot the Wolverines 8-0 in the first 45 minutes. First, it was junior forward Mia Mullenmeister in the 19th minute putting a left-footed chip from the corner of the 18-yard box into the top right corner of the net, following a perfectly-placed pass from junior defender Kaeda Wilson 50 yards downfield for the first Utah State goal of the season.
The Aggies then extended their lead in the 32nd minute when a ball crossed into the box took several ricochets before finding the foot of sophomore midfielder Mia Lopez, who buried it into the back of the net with a left-footed laser.
USU continued to control the pace and create looks in the second half, generating eight more shots after the halftime break, but the Wolverines clawed back into contention in the 69th minute with what was their third shot of the game, a long shot from near the sideline and into the top left corner of the net. They then pulled even in the final second of the game when a long ball into the box took an awkward bounce past through traffic and past the keeper.
Utah State finished the night with 16 shots to Michigan's five, and a 9-4 advantage in shots on frame. Three Aggies tied for the team lead in shots, as senior forward Kate Christian, senior midfielder Summer Diamond and sophomore forward Samantha Sellers each finished the night with three.
Senior goalkeeper Allee Grashoff played all 90 minutes in net for Utah State, coming up with two saves.
