LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis junior
Eliot Nobel and freshman Alvar Lange reached the quarterfinals of the M15 Bastad in doubles play, each earning a pair of ATP points and an official ATP world ranking.
In the opening round of the tournament, the duo won in straight sets over Lukas Andersson and Christopher Norlin of Sweden, 6-3, 6-4. The pair then battled before falling in the quarterfinal round to the tournament's second-seeded doubles team featuring Norway's Andreja Petrovic and Sweden's Nikola Slavic.
Nobel went 17-10 in singles and 16-8 in doubles last season for the Aggies. He went undefeated against Mountain West competition, going 3-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles play during Utah State's regular season MW title run. Nobel then earned MW All-Tournament honors in both singles and doubles play with a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory to help the Aggies win three matches in three days to claim the tournament title. Nobel also earned a national ITA ranking in doubles play, climbing as high as 55th while playing alongside
Emmanuel Alex.
Lange will be entering his first season at USU after achieving a career-high ITF Junior world ranking of 312th and claiming three ITF titles. Lange won the J30 Nastola singles tournament in 2023 and has two doubles titles to his name after winning the J30 Hanko in 2023 and the J60 Vierumaki in 2024. Lange has also climbed to 1171st in the ITF Men's world rankings, going 4-5 in singles play including a run to the third round of the M15 Heraklion in April of 2026. Overall in his career, Lange has gone 63-48 in singles matches and 43-36 in doubles. He attended Celsiusskolan in Uppsala, Sweden, helping the team to a national third-place finish, and also played at the club level for Enskede LTK.
