LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head softball coach Kristen Zaleski announced the signing of transfer outfielder Tanaya Barrett on Wednesday. Barrett will join the Aggies as a junior for the 2027 season after spending the past two seasons at Ohio State.  

Barrett, a native of Dublin, California, appeared in 54 games with seven starts across her two seasons with the Buckeyes. As a freshman in 2025, she made 35 appearances and helped lead Ohio State to a 45-14-1 overall record and an NCAA Tournament appearance, the team's most wins since 2009 and fourth-most in program history. Barrett posted a .261 (6-for-23) batting average that season with two doubles, three RBIs and two bases on balls. In 2026, she played in 19 total games with eight at-bats and five runs scored. 

Barrett prepped at Dublin (CA) High School, where she was a team captain and all-league performer. She posted a .409 batting average across her high school career with 63 RBIs, 44 extra base hits and 65 runs scored. She posted an OPS of over 1.000 in each of her final three prep seasons, hitting .531 with six home runs and a .589 on-base percentage as a junior and posting a .400 batting average with 23 runs scored, 22 RBIs, six doubles and a .560 on-base percentage as a senior.
