Football Has Five Players Named to the Pac-12 Preseason Impact List

USU’s five impact players heading into the 2026 campaign are graduate RB Javen Jacobs, junior QB McCae Hillstead, senior S Brevin Hamblin, sophomore DT Carson Tujague and junior P Landon Rehkow.

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football had five student-athletes named to the Pac-12's Preseason Impact List it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Utah State's five impact players heading into the 2026 campaign are graduate RB Javen Jacobs, junior QB McCae Hillstead, senior S Brevin Hamblin, sophomore DT Carson Tujague and junior P Landon Rehkow.

Jacobs started 10 of the 13 games he played last season and led the team with 1,058 all-purpose yards (81.4 ypg) as he carried the ball 65 times for 429 yards (6.6 ypr) and five touchdowns and caught 43 passes for 379 yards (8.8 ypr) and three touchdowns.

Heading into the 2026 season, Jacobs has been named to the Phil Steele Preseason Pac-12 second team as a punt returner and third team at running back and to Athlon Sports Preseason Pac-12 second team at running back and third team as a punt returner. He is also a 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team nominee.

Hillstead returns to Utah State after starting four of the eight games he played in for the Aggies during his true freshman season in 2023. That year, he was 94-of-158 (.595) passing for 1,062 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

In 2025, Hamblin started 12 of the 13 games he played in and finished second on the team with 114 tackles (57 solo), including 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, to go along with eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one interception returned for a touchdown and one fumble recovery.

This year, Hamblin has been named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Preseason Watch List, the Shrine Bowl Watch List, and to the Athlon Sports and Phil Steele Preseason Pac-12 first team after earning honorable mention All-Mountain West honors last year.

Tujague started 12 of the 13 games he played in during the 2025 season and recorded 72 tackles (19 solo), including 0.5 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss, to go along with one pass breakup and five quarterback hurries. His 72 tackles are the most by a defensive tackle and second most by a defensive lineman in a single season in school history. He ranked first in the nation in tackles by a defensive tackle and third in tackles by a defensive lineman.

This year, Tujague has been named to the Athlon Sports and Phil Steele Preseason Pac-12 second team.

Rehkow averaged 42.93 yards on 68 punts during the 2025 season, which ranks tied for ninth all-time in school history for a single season.

Heading into the 2026 campaign, he has been named to the Phil Steele Preseason Pac-12 fourth team.

Players were selected by the league's eight head coaches and will be announced by team, twice a day throughout the week. Each team has a minimum of two offensive players, two defensive play-ers and then a flex spot that can be filled by a player of any position.
