LOGAN, Utah — Utah State soccer (6-2-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) extended the nation's longest home unbeaten streak with a decisive shutout victory Sunday afternoon at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field, defeating reigning Summit League champions South Dakota State 3-0.
Against a Jackrabbit squad which entered the contest ranking third in the nation in both goals per game (4.14) and goal differential (+24), the Aggies limited their visitors to just five total shots with just two on goal. Meanwhile, Utah State had its fourth-consecutive showing with 15-plus shots, tallying 21 with 14 on frame.
The Aggies jumped on top in the 33rd minute when junior defender Kaeda Wilson netted her first goal of the year, delivering a left-footed laser from 25 yards out to the top right corner of the net to make it 1-0. With the goal, Wilson became the 12th different USU player to score this season. Utah State forced the visiting keeper into multiple diving saves late in the first half, but were held off the board for the remainder of the half.
Just five minutes following the halftime break Utah State struck again, as senior forward Solena Sellers scored for the second-straight contest. A perfectly-played ball from senior defender Kasie Vigil found Sellers streaking one-on-one in the middle of the field, who then beat her defender to put one past the keeper.
The 2-0 Aggie advantage held until the 80th minute, when the Jackrabbits were called for a handball in the penalty box following a Utah State challenge and review. Junior midfielder Kei Yoneda then stepped up to calmly bury the penalty kick, further extending the lead.
Utah State's 14 shots on goal were its second most of the season, Sellers leading the way with five shots, all five of which were on frame. In total, 13 different USU players contributed to the Aggies' 21 shots.
In net, it was sophomore keeper Ivy Nystrom earning her fifth clean sheet of the young season, tallying one save while playing all 90 minutes for Utah State.

Utah State (6-2-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) will hit the road this week as it travels to Pocatello, Idaho, to face Idaho State on Thursday, Sept. 17. The match will begin at 4 p.m., and will be streamed on ESPN+.
