Soccer’s Solena Sellers Named America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer senior forward Solena Sellers has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Sept. 14. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

With their sponsorship of the student-athlete of the week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.

Sellers, a native of Highland, Utah, helped Utah State to a 2-0 week with a 4-0 win against No. 13 BYU on Thursday and a 3-0 win against South Dakota State on Sunday. Against the Cougars, Sellers scored a goal in the 68th minute. She played 37 minutes in the match and totaled one shot on goal. Against the Jackrabbits, Sellers scored in the 51st minute and led the team with five shots, all of which were on goal, in 46 minutes of action. On the week, Sellers totaled two goals, six shots and six shots on goal in 82 minutes on the pitch.

UP NEXT
Utah State (6-2-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) wraps up its nonconference slate this week as it travels to face Idaho State on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m., then hosts Saint Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.

TICKETS
Fans can purchase season tickets now here. Adult season tickets are available for $100, while youth can gain access to all games by joining the Junior Aggie Kids Club for $40. All seating at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field is general admission. Seating in the stadium bleachers is first come, first served. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for grass and berm seating.

FOOTBALL – Graduate QB Grady Brosterhous (Charlotte, N.C.) made his first career start last weekend in Utah State's 16-14 loss at No. 19 Washington. Brosterhous was 17-of-28 passing for 196 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for 81 yards on 21 carries as all his stats are career highs.

GOLF – Junior Noah Moody (Vineyard, Utah) tied for 13th at 3-over 213 (73-71-69) at the Colorado State-hosted Ram Masters Invitational last week for his best career finish and second-ever top 20 placing. Moody's third round of 1-under 69 was his ninth round under par in his career and his fourth career round in the 60s. USU finished in ninth place at 25-over 865 (292-285-288) in the 16-team field.

VOLLEYBALL – Junior Sami Blackett (Orem, Utah) led the Aggies with 22 total kills as Utah State dropped a pair of home matches to UCLA (3-0) and Utah (3-0). Blackett averaged 3.67 kills per set and hit .183 on a team-high 71 attempts. Against the Bruins, Blackett posted nine kills alongside two aces, two blocks and five digs. Blackett then led USU with 13 kills against Utah, also adding two blocks and four digs.
