LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football senior Brevin Hamblin has been a semifinalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy. Hamblin is one of 206 semifinalists for the award across DivisionI, II, III and the NAIA.

Hamblin, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound safety from Syracuse, Utah, currently leads the Aggie defense with 19 total tackles this season and is tied for first on the team with two pass breakups. Hamblin entered the 2026 season after earning All-Mountain West honorable mention last season as he started in 12 of 13 games he played in and finished second on the team with 114 tackles. Hamblin added 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception returned for a touchdown. He earned MW Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording eight tackles and a sack against Nevada to go along with 1.5 TFLs and a 38-yard INT touchdown return. Hamblin posted four double-digit tackle outings on the season, including a season-high 14 against Boise State, and was named to the Academic All-MW team.

The William V. Campbell Trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership as chosen by the National Football Foundation. Candidates must be competing in 2026 as a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility and carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. Candidates must also demonstrate outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. 12 to 16 finalists will be announced on Oct. 21 with the winner being chosen as part of the 68^th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.

Utah State football hosts Troy (2-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) in its annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network. Season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets can be purchased through the USU Online Ticket Office.
