BOISE, Idaho – Utah State men's tennis opened its fall tournament schedule this weekend at the Dar Walters Fall Classic, led by junior Eliot Nobel who went an unbeaten 4-0 in singles play as part of six total wins during the weekend.

In singles play, Nobel recorded a pair of straight-set wins over Idaho's Paul Janson (6-4, 6-3) and Portland Cade Fernando (6-4, 6-1), while winning in three sets over Montana's Matt Upton (4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6)) and Portland's Tom Garcia (1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5)). In doubles action, Nobel played alongside freshman Alvar Lange where the pair recorded wins over Idaho's Janson and Gabriel Moroder (6-3) and Portland's Garcia and Tannor Binder (6-2). Lange also added a singles win over Portland's Stefan Skobelev, 6-0, 6-1.

USU's second doubles team of freshmen Alejandro Daniel Garcia and Adam Miner posted two doubles win on the weekend, defeating Portland's Gian Manhas and Eli Nobel, 6-3, and Idaho State's Rafael Maya and Jack Calleri, 6-4. The duo each posted a pair of singles wins as well. Daniel Garcia recorded wins over Manhas (6-4, 6-4) and Idaho's Erik Vladimirov (6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5)) while Miner earned wins over Montana's Johnny Wilkinson (2-6, 7-5, 1-0) and Idaho's Valentin Glasl (6-2, 7-6 (3)).

Utah State continues the fall tournament season next weekend at the Utah Invite in Salt Lake City on Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 1-4.
